Being authentic, vulnerable, and compassionate are three characteristics that help encapsulate who I am. Being authentic speaks to being a person first rather than a clinician and reminding others that we are all in the boat of life challenges trying our best to get to our destination. I often tell my clients that being a Therapist does not make me super human and I am not exempt from life’s struggles which keeps me grounded on providing the best experience with a high standard of care. Being vulnerable is important because without vulnerability we become distant from connection which is important to possess a healthy sense of vulnerability to be effective and model for those who strive to learn how to be vulnerable. Compassion drives my desire to be a vessel in the treatment process for all those I come in contact with. Compassion assures those I see that you genuinely matter to me and I do care about you. I never loose sight of the privilege of doing the work that I do.
